How we handle your data when you buy or browse. Plain English.
Who is responsible
The data controller is Norman Voellings, trading as The Calm Classroom (see the legal notice). Contact: contact@emma-whitcombe.com.
What we collect, and why
- When you buy: your email address and order details (which books, amount, currency, time). We need these to take payment, deliver your download and email your link, and to keep proper business records. Legal basis: performance of our contract with you, and our legal record-keeping obligations.
- Payment details: handled entirely by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. Stripe shares back only what we need to confirm the order.
- When you just browse:our server keeps short-lived technical logs (e.g. IP address, time, page) to run the site securely. We use only the cookies strictly necessary for the site to work (such as Stripe’s checkout security) — no advertising or tracking cookies, so there is no consent banner.
Who processes data for us
- Stripe Payments Europe, Ltd. (Ireland) — payment processing.
- Resend (USA; on EU Standard Contractual Clauses) — sending your download email.
- Hostinger International Ltd. (EU) — website hosting.
- Supabase (managed PostgreSQL database, EU / Frankfurt region) — storing your order and download records.
We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.
How long we keep it
- Download links: 30 days, then they expire.
- Order and invoice records: as required by tax and accounting law.
- Server logs: a short period, then deleted.
Your rights
You can ask us to access, correct, delete or export your data, or to restrict or object to its use. Email contact@emma-whitcombe.com and we will respond. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.
